GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Illinois Women's Golf team finished in third place at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, South Carolina. The Fighting Illini carded rounds of 284-284-290, for a final score of 862 (-2), matching the second-best 54-hole team score in program history.

"It's always great to put ourselves in successful positions," head coach Renee Slone said. "Right now it's about learning the process of finishing stronger.

The third-place finish is the third consecutive top-five placing for Illinois, dating back to the 2016 Big Ten Tournament.

Of the 20 teams invited to the tournament at the Furman University Golf Course (Par 72, 6,313 yards), only Texas (-11), as well as host and No. 20 Furman (-9), were able to best the Illini. Augusta (+2) finished fourth, while Middle Tennessee (+6) and Missouri (+17) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Ole Miss (+20), Virginia Tech (+26), East Tennessee State (+27) and Kennesaw State (+29) finished in the top 10. In 11th was Tulsa with a +31 score, followed by Daytona State (+32), UNCW (+36), Maryland (+36), Mercer (+43) and Minnesota (+43). Georgetown finished in 17th with a +44, as New Mexico (+47), Georgia State (+62) and Wofford (+82) rounded out the field.

The Illini were second in the tournament field with 47 combined birdies, and the -19 mark on par-5 holes was the best among all teams in attendance.

Individually, Bing Singhsumalee finished in third place with a four-under-par performance. She recorded a 70 in the first and second rounds, and a 72 in the final round. Singhsumalee's -4 matches the fifth-best individual 54-hole score in team history.

Rookie Tristyn Nowlin recorded rounds of 73-69-74 (E), tying for 12th overall. Her 69 (-3) score in the second round was the lowest round of the tournament for any Illini. Stephanie Miller finished in a tie for 15th overall, after carding rounds of 71-74-72 (+1) in the tournament.

With rounds of 72-74-72 (+2), Grace Park tied for 24th in her first tournament of the year. Chayanid Prapassarangkul finished in a tie for 44th, after a first round score of 74, second round score of 73, and a final round of 76, good for a +7 mark.

"It's another step forward," Slone said. "There are a couple of things we can work on as we head into our next tournament, but all in all it was another solid tournament. We will continue to get better and better."
