GREENVILLE, S.C. – With the first two rounds of play at the Lady Paladin Invitational in the books, the Fighting Illini now stand in third place with a four-under-par score. The team turned in another 286 (-2) performance, matching their score in the first round, at the Furman University Golf Course (Par 72, 6,313 yards) in Greenville, S.C.
"Overall, it was a pretty solid day," head coach Renee Slone said. "We got off to a pretty hot start in the first five to six holes. We tapered off a little towards the back nine, but we will continue to build off of our performance as we head into tomorrow."
Tristyn Nowlin led the Illini in the second round, carding a 69 (-3), and currently sits in a tie for sixth place. Currently tied for second overall in the tournament, Bing Singhsumalee equaled her first round score with a 70 (-2) round. Chayanid Prapassarangkul was third for Illinois, carding a 73 (+1), and currently sits in a tie for 35th. Stephanie Miller and Grace Park both turned in 74 (+2) performances on the round, putting Miller in a tie for 21st overall and Park in a tie for 30th.
Texas and host Furman are in a tie for the top team position, each with a -9 score.
"We just have to focus on ourselves and stick to our process," Slone said. "We will put our best foot forward, and see where that gets us."
The final round of the tournament is scheduled for tomorrow, with tee times starting at 7 a.m. CT. The first tee time for the Illini is set for 8:30 a.m. CT.
