Champaign, Ill. - Fighting Illini men's golf is set for its ninth consecutive NCAA Regional appearance next week as Illinois was chosen as the No. 1 seed to the NCAA Kohler Regional. One of six sites around the country, The Kohler Regional is set to take place at the Blackwolf Run Meadow Valleys Course in Kohler, Wisconsin, May 16-18. The Illini have won three consecutive NCAA Regionals and have advanced to the NCAA National Championship in each of the last eight seasons. 

The NCAA Kohler Regional will be played in a 54-hole format, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. for the first two rounds. The final round will begin at 7:30 a.m. The Illini will play one round of 18 holes each day, May 16-18, at Blackwolf Run's 7,404-yard, Par 72 course. The Meadow Valleys course was recently listed among the top-100 in Golf Digest's ranking of America's Greatest Public Golf Courses.

The No. 2-ranked Illini will be joined by 12 teams and 10 individual players in Wisconsin. The Kohler Regional field includes No. 15 Florida State, No. 2 Florida, No. 21 Arkansas, No. 29 Baylor, No. 31 Penn State, No. 35 Memphis, No. 48 Kent State, No. 54 UCLA, No. 61 East Tennessee State, No. 63 Campbell, Idaho and South Dakota State. The top five teams and top individual not on a qualifying team from each of the six NCAA regional sites will compete at the NCAA Championship at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon, May 27-June 1.  

Illinois has seen two individuals combine for three individual NCAA Regional titles as Brian Campbell won consecutive regionals in 2014 and 2015 and Luke Guthrie took medalist honors at the 2011 NCAA Regional competition. 

The Illini are coming off of their second consecutive Big Ten Championship title, earning their seventh in the last eight seasons. Senior Thomas Detry took home medalist honors at the tournament while senior Charlie Danielson was named the league's Les Bolstad Award winner.
