FORT WORTH, Texas. – Fighting Illini women's gymnast Lizzy LeDuc competed individually at the NCAA National Championships Friday night at the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Competing in her home state, the freshman gymnast produced a 9.6375 on floor. LeDuc became the 14th Illini to qualify individually for nationals and the first Illini freshman to qualify individually since Allison Buckley in 2008.
"It was such an amazing opportunity to represent my team here at NCAA Nationals," Leduc said. "I learned a lot from this experience and am excited to get back into the gym to start preparing for next season!"
"I'm so proud of Lizzy, as she went out and competed her heart out for her teammates and Illinois gymnastics," head coach Kim Landrus said. "I'm confident this experience will help her build off her accomplishments from this year and motivate her even more for the next three years."
LeDuc punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships by earning the floor title at the Salt Lake City Regional. The freshman produced a career high floor routine of 9.950, which ranks third in program history on the event.
