CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois Women's Golf is headed to Columbus, Ohio, for its final regular-season tournament of the spring season, where the Orange and Blue will compete at the two-day Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational. The Ohio State-hosted event is slated for two rounds of action on Saturday, April 16, while the final round will take place on Sunday, April 17.
The 12-team field includes seven Big Ten teams and will give the Illini squad a good look at their counterparts for the conference championships that will take place in less than one week. The weekend field features four teams ranked in the Golfstat Top-50 national rankings, including No. 14 Kent State, No. 30 Augusta, No. 42 Michigan State and No. 43 Ohio State.
Action will take place from the Ohio State University Golf Club's Scarlet Course, a par-72, 6,319-yard venue. The tournament's format resembles the Big Ten Championships, where teams compete six players and count the lowest four scores towards the team total.
Traveling this week for the Illini are freshman Bing Singhsumalee; sophomores Dana Gattone, Grace Park, Chayanid Prapassarangkul and Pailin Ruttanasupagid; and junior Stephanie Miller. Ruttanasupagid has made two spring appearances competing as an individual, but this will be her first action in the Illini lineup of her career. Singhsumalee, Gattone, Park, Prapassarangkul and Miller have all competed at every tournament this spring, putting the 2015-16 Illinois squad on pace to shatter the team stroke average record.
Action from the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational will get underway on Saturday beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start. The Illini golfers will compete alongside athletes from Augusta and Indiana on day one. Sunday's final round will kick off with tee times commencing at 7:30 a.m. CT.
