
Fighting Illini Ready to Host Big Ten Weekend Slate

URBANA, Ill. – After picking up three wins on the road during their spring break trip to the East Coast, the Fighting Illini women's tennis team returns to the Atkins Tennis Center for its next four matches. First up this weekend, Iowa and No. 75 Nebraska are headed to town. The Orange and Blue (8-6; 2-1 B1G) will host the Hawkeyes in a match currently slated for 6 p.m. on Friday evening and then welcome the 75th-ranked Huskers to town for an 11 a.m. CT contest on Sunday.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Illini are 27-25 all-time against the Iowa Hawkeyes, winning the most recent tally during the 2015 season by a 6-1 decision. Iowa enters the weekend contest with a 10-9 record overall and is 0-5 in Big Ten play, falling to Nebraska, Indiana, Maryland, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Against Nebraska, Illinois owns a 4-3 all-time record. Last season, the Orange and Blue took down the Huskers in a 6-1 fashion from the Atkins Tennis Center. The Illini have won the three most-recent matches against Nebraska. The Huskers enter the weekend with a 17-2; 4-1 B1G record and will play Northwestern on Saturday before making the trip south for Sunday's match.
IN THE RANKINGS
Illinois' doubles tandem of Louise Kwong and Ines Vias have owned a spot in the top-50 ranked doubles teams in the nation in all but one poll since February 6. The duo currently ranks 46th. As a team, Illinois comes in at No. 53 overall. Nebraska grabbed the final spot of the current rankings at No. 75.
ILLINI DOUBLES DOMINANCE
The Fighting Illini enter this weekend's contests with a combined 27-8 record on the doubles courts. UI owns a 10-2 record at No. 1, an 8-4 mark at No. 2 and a 9-2 overall record at No. 3. Over the course of the season, Kwong and Vias have tallied a 17-6 record as a team.

After the weekend contests against Iowa and Nebraska, the Fighting Illini will host Indiana on April 8 at 4 p.m. and Purdue on April 10 at noon.
