GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Illinois women's golf team finished sixth at the Greenville Regional Preview in Greenville, N.C. The Orange and Blue recorded rounds of 310-307-309 for a final score of 926 (+62).
"We'll draw from this experience down the road," head coach Renee Slone said.
TCU, with a score of 895 (+31), won the tournament at Brook Valley Country Club, a par-72, 6,133-yard course. The top five, in order were TCU, Augusta (+49), Kansas State (+50), Clemson (+53) and East Carolina (+62). Old Dominion finished behind Illinois with a score of 67-over-par, followed by Campbell (+70), Oregon (+72), Iowa (+73), Denver (+77), Mississippi State (+79), Virginia Tech (+86), Idaho (+97), Colorado State (+99) and Middle Tennessee State (+108).
The Illini were paced by Bing Singhsumalee, who finished in a tie for 14th place after carding rounds of 77-75-77 (+13). Grace Park was right behind her in a tie for 17th with a 79 in the first round, 77 in the second round, and a 74 in the final round for a 14-over-par finish.
Competing individually, Chayanid Prapassarangkul tied for 32nd, recording rounds of 76-76-82 (+18).
Tristyn Nowlin and Stephanie Miller both finished in a tie for 43rd. Nowlin had a 76 first round score, an 81 in the second round, and an 80 in the final round, finishing 21-over-par. Miller carded rounds of 80-79-78 (+21). Placing in a tie for 47th, Dana Gattone recorded rounds of 78-76-84 (+22).
"We have an opportunity to bounce back, an opportunity that will prove useful to us," Slone said. "We will get ourselves ready, get back at it and prepare for our next tournament."
Next Up
The Cardinal Cup awaits the Fighting Illini in Simpsonville, Kentucky. The tournament will be the last of the fall for Illinois, and is slated for Oct. 23-25.
