GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Fighting Illini were able to get the first round of the Greenville Regional Preview in, but the conclusion of the second round will have to wait until tomorrow.
Illinois posted a first round score of 310 (+22), tying for sixth place. Darkness fell before the teams could finish the second round, so play will resume tomorrow morning. The Orange and Blue currently sit alone in sixth place, with an 18-over-par score so far in round two.
"We will face challenges like this throughout the season," head coach Renee Slone said. "Hopefully it will prepare us as we go forward."
Chayanid Prapassarangkul, competing as an individual, is currently tied for sixth place overall after recording a first round score of 76 (+4), and sits at one-over-par in round two.
Pacing the rest of the Illini is Bing Singhsumalee, carding a 77 (+5) in round one, and a +3 so far in the second round, good for a tie in 17th.
Making her first tournament appearance of the 2016-17 season, Dana Gattone is tied for 25th after a first round score of 78 (+6) and a four-over-par so far in round two. Right behind Gattone is Grace Park, tying for 28th by recording a 79 (+7) in the first round, and sitting at a four-over par in round two.
Tristyn Nowlin turned in a 76 (+4) in round one, and currently has a +9 score in the second round, good for a tie in 39th. With a first round score of 80 (+8) and a round two score of seven-over-par so far, Stephanie Miller sits in a tie for 52nd place.
"We'll put today in the past," Slone said. "Tomorrow is a clean slate. We'll start with a positive attitude, and tomorrow we have a great opportunity."
The conclusion of round two is set for tomorrow, with tee times starting at 7 a.m. CT. The final round of the Greenville Regional Preview is slated to begin tomorrow as well, following the second round.
