CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Fighting Illini Men's Tennis team extend its winning streak to six Sunday afternoon with a 4-0 sweep of Nebraska on Senior Day. Ross Guignon, Tim Kopinski, Farris Gosea and Blake Bazarnik were honored for their careers as Illini. The Orange and Blue moved to 21-3 overall and 9-0 in the Big Ten, holding their position atop the Big Ten standings.

"It's a special group of seniors," head coach Brad Dancer said. "They wanted to create their own legacy and they are certainly going to do that as they come down the home stretch here and finish the season. But right now, they have put themselves at a 9-0 position in the Big Ten. Two big matches left next weekend on the road, they've put themselves in a great position going into the weekend."

The Illini made quick work of the Cornhuskers to earn the doubles point for the sixth consecutive match. Farris Gosea and Aleks Vukic earned their sixth straight victory at Illinois' No. 3 doubles. The pair defeated Nebraska's Dzulynsky/Hobgarski 8-0. Jared Hiltzik and Tim Kopinski sealed the doubles point for the Illini with an 8-6 win over Zitsch/Boyer. On court two, Aron Hiltzik and Ross Guignon were leading 6-4 when the match was abandoned.

The momentum continued into singles, as the Illini claimed the first set on all six courts. No. 49 Aleks Vukic was dominant at the No. 4 position for the Illini, as he didn't give up a single game to Chris Hobgarski. With his straight set win (6-0, 6-0), Vukic now holds a 14-match winning streak.

No. 68 Aron Hiltzik grabbed the second singles victory for Illinois with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Andrew Dzulynsky on court three. Hiltzik extended his winning streak to 13.

Senior Blake Bazarnik made the most of his senior day, clinching the Illini victory with a win on court five. Bazarnik defeated Bradford Zitsch 6-2, 7-6(5).

Up next, the Illini will be on the road in the final weekend of the regular season, looking to secure the conference title. Illinois will face Minnesota April 17 at 6 p.m. CT and Wisconsin April 19 at Noon CT.
