CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Fighting Illini Men's Tennis team earned its 20th win on the season with a 6-1 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes Saturday afternoon at home. With today's win, the Illini improve to 20-3 overall and 8-0 in Big Ten play.

The Illini earned the doubles point for the fifth consecutive match with wins on courts two and three. Farris Gosea and Aleks Vukic were first to finish with an 8-5 victory over Silverstein/Patrick on court three. Aron Hiltzik and Ross Guignon also defeated Theodorou/Martens (8-4) on court two. Jared Hiltzik and Tim Kopinski held a 7-3 lead over Hagan/Jacoby when the match was abandoned.

"It was a super day here and we had a great crowd, which was great," head coach Brad Dancer said. "Other then that, a coach is always just looking for picky things here and there of what we can get better. We'll talk about that as a team and individually. Happy to get another win in the Big Ten and move on to tomorrow."

The Illini carried their winning ways into singles play by earning victories on five of six courts. First to finish was #43 Tim Kopinski with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory over Dominic Patrick. #90 Farris Gosea followed with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over #112 Matt Hagan on court one.

On court two, No. 18 Jared Hiltzik improved to 7-0 in Big Ten play with a win over Lefteris Theodorou. Illinois' last two singles victories came from No. 68 Aron Hiltzik and No. 49 Aleks Vukic. The freshmen duo continued their strong play by extending their win streaks to 12 and 13, respectively.

The Orange and Blue will be back in action Sunday for Senior Day against Nebraska. Action is slated for Noon CT.
