URBANA, Ill. - After a two-week hiatus, the Illinois women's tennis team is back in action for the final contest of its five-match home stand as the No. 24 Indiana Hoosiers come to town. The match is slated for Sunday, March 1, at Noon from the Atkins Tennis Center. The Illini enter the contest with a 5-2 record, while Indiana boasts a mark of 9-1.
THE HISTORY
Illinois and Indiana have met 45 times with the Illini coming out on top of just 12 (12-33) of those contests. Last season, when the Hoosiers visited Urbana, the Illini were victorious by a 5-2 decision.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Hoosiers went 19-9 last season, including a 6-5 Big Ten mark. Indiana fell to Northwestern in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament to end the 2013-14 season. This year, Indiana is off to a 9-1 start, with their lone loss coming against DePaul on Feb. 7 by a 5-2 decision in Bloomington.
HEATING UP
After opening the season 1-1 in singles competition, Melissa Kopinski has won her last three matches to climb to 4-1 on this year's campaign. Jade Hilton (4-1), Louise Kwong (4-2) and Grace Tapak (4-1) along with Kopinski, lead the Illini with four wins each in singles play.
TOUGH COMPETITION
In the ITA's first computerized rankings of the spring, seven Big Ten teams can be found in the top-75. Michigan (10), Ohio State (19), Purdue (21), Indiana (24), Northwestern (33), Maryland (54) and Minnesota (70) all made appearances in the Feb. 24 rankings. Eleven of Illinois' 2015 opponents are currently ranked.

The Illini head to Penn State next Friday, March 6, for a 3 pm CST contest before returning home for a Sunday match against Ohio State at Noon.
