BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Illinois struggled defensively and couldn't recover, falling to Indiana 85-58 at Assembly Hall Wednesday night. Chatrice White had a team-high 18 points, Jacqui Grant had 11 points, eight rebounds and four blocks, and Ivory Crawford had 10 for the Illini, who fell to 12-13 overall, 3-10 in the Big Ten.

"We just didn't get enough stops on the defensive end," Illinois head coach Matt Bollant said. "Indiana broke down our man defense with their penetration then was able to find the open shooter. Give them credit, they made a lot of shots, and we let that affect us on the offensive end."

Indiana (14-10, 4-9) shot a blistering 55.2 percent (32-of-58) from the field, including 13-of-23 (56.5 percent) from three-point range, compared to 37.3 and 29.2 percent, respectively, by Illinois. The Hoosiers also out-rebounded UI 34-30 and committed just 16 turnovers. The Illini started the second half 0-of-10 and shot just 31 percent (9-of-29) in the stanza.

The Illini took an early 7-4 lead behind five quick points from Jacqui Grant, but the Hoosiers heated up from long range, hitting two in a row and eventually going ahead 14-12 at the 12:54 mark. Chatrice White got a layup and drew a foul, but she missed the free throw after the under-12 media timeout and Indiana used a 9-2 burst to go up 23-16.

A Crawford layup pulled the Illini within four at 27-23 but Indiana found the holes in Illinois' defense, going on a 10-3 run to go ahead 37-26 with 4:06 to go. Indiana hit another three and got a jumper just before the halftime buzzer to lead 44-31 at the half.

The Illini came out of the locker room cold, missing their first 10 shots of the second half, as Indiana started the stanza on a 17-3 run to lead 61-34 with 11:58 left. And the Hoosiers hit a trey from the right wing to expand their lead to 70-40 at the under-8 media timeout.

Illinois used a 12-3 spurt to shave nine points off the margin but couldn't get any closer, as Indiana finished off the 85-58 victory.
