
Fighting Illini Set to Host Midwest Blast

URBANA, Ill. – In its final weekend of fall action, the Illinois women's tennis team will host the Midwest Blast at the Atkins Tennis Center from Friday, Nov. 6 – Sunday, Nov. 8. This marks the first home appearance for the Fighting Illini of the 2015-16 campaign.
The three-day event will feature four Midwest teams including Missouri, Notre Dame, Purdue and Illinois. Competition style for the event will be a hidden dual format. On Friday, each squad will play a pair of doubles matches in addition to a round of singles contests. Saturday's action will include one round each of singles and doubles action. Teams will conclude play on Sunday with one round of singles matches.
This will mark the first action that Illinois' trio of freshmen will play at the Atkins Tennis Center. Additionally, this weekend will be the first time UI will play at home under the direction of interim head coach Evan Clark and assistant coach Kelly Cameron.
Admission to the event is free. With decent weather, some matches may be played on the outdoor courts at the venue.
Live scoring (by game) will be available for all matches played this weekend. Video streaming will also be available for this weekend's action, free of charge.
