TULSA, Okla. – Fighting Illini men's tennis sophomore Aron Hiltzik upset two-seeded Nicolas Alvarez of Duke to advance to the Round of 16 of the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships Friday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at the University of Tulsa.
No. 46 Hiltzik secured a straight set victory over No. 7 Alvarez, claiming both sets by the score of 7-5. The win over Alvarez marked the highest ranked opponent Hiltzik has beaten in his collegiate career.
Hiltzik will advance to play (9-16) Andre Goransson on Saturday. Match times will be determined later this evening.
