BOERNE, Texas – On the second day of the Jim West Challenge, the Illinois women's golf team knocked 11 strokes off of its previous mark for a carding of 293 in round two. Illinois posted one of the lowest second round scores across the board to jump into the top 10 heading into the final day of action at the Tapatio Springs Resort.
Chayanid Prapassarangkul took the lead of the Illinois unit and sits tied for 10th heading into the final 18 holes at the Jim West Challenge. The Illinois sophomore sits one-under par at 143 strokes after rounds of 74 and 69. Freshman Bing Singhsumalee sits in a share of 34th entering day three after posting rounds of 71 and 78 on the opening days of action.
Grace Park is tied for 40th after opening the tournament with rounds of 78 and 72. Her second-round tally of 72 was her lowest of the season so far. Stephanie Miller and Dana Gattone are both tied for 63rd after posting identical rounds of 81 and 76 on the first two days in Texas.
Kent State leads the team field with a two-day mark of 566, 10 strokes under par. Texas A&M is in second with a reading of 570 followed by Florida State (572), Texas Tech (575) and Miami (581) to round out the top five teams. Filling out the top-10 teams are Houston (585), Texas (586), Missouri (586), Oklahoma (593) and Illinois (597). Texas State (598), Mississippi State (599) and UTSA (607) round out the remainder of the field.
