KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The 2015 Illinois Women's Golf fall slate has concluded with the Orange and Blue picking up their second top-five finish, closing the Palmetto Intercollegiate in fifth place. Illinois finished with a team score of 887 after rounds of 290-300-297 at the three-day outing hosted at the Turtle Point Golf Course in Kiawah, South Carolina.

"We posted a solid round on the first day, struggled a bit to open the second round but found a way to right our ship, and then had the same problem in round three, which we couldn't quite work back from," shared head coach Renee Slone.

Chayanid Prapassarangkul led UI, posting two of her three rounds at or below par (70-75-72=217). The sophomore Illini bogeyed her third hole of the final day, but worked back to even par with birdies on holes nine and 15. Prapassarangkul finished with five birdies across the three rounds and led all competitors with a total of 44 holes at par.

"Jan had a great tournament filled with solid play," stated Slone. "She took a different mental approach to this event, which proved to be beneficial and we are hoping this was a turning point for her."

Freshman Bing Singhsumalee finished 15th with a three-day score of 220 (+4), including rounds of 73-73-74. Entering the day in a share of ninth place, Singhsumalee posted a pair of birdies to erase a couple of bogeyed holes but couldn't counter a late double bogey and closed the final round with a two-over 74. The UI newcomer finished four-under par on par five holes, the second-best mark across the field and additionally carded seven birdies.

Grace Park turned in rounds of 74-75-76 for a grand total score of 225 (+9) to claim a share of the 30th spot. Park also carded a team-high nine birdies at the Palmetto Intercollegiate.

Stephanie Miller and Dana Gattone both finished with three-day scores of 228 (+12) for a share of 44th place in the individual field. Miller posted rounds of 73-77-78 while Gattone's card read 75-78-75. The pair of Illini golfers combined for nine birdies at the event.

UI finished atop a pair of categories on the team statistics board including the best average on par five holes where the Illini posted a mark of 4.97 (-2). Additionally, the Orange and Blue finished with 185 holes at par, the best mark in the 20-team field.

"This is something that we have been talking about because in previous tournaments we haven't capitalized on par five holes," said Slone of having the best team average on par five holes. "Jan played the par fives even to help our average. Additionally, Bing birdied the fifth hole, a par five, in all three rounds."

Furman ran away with the team honors with an 11-over mark of 875. Chattanooga finished second at 882 (+18), while Campbell took third place at 884 (+20) and Augusta secured fourth with a score of 886 (+22). UI posted its second top-five finish of the fall with a score of 887 (+23) while Louisville (889), Coastal Carolina (894), Kansas (989), Kennesaw State (901) and College of Charleston (901) rounded out the top 10 team finishers.
