SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Fighting Illini men's tennis sophomore Aron Hiltzik's run at the 2015 USTA/ITA Midwest Regional came to an end in the quarterfinals with a loss Sunday to Strong Kirchheimer (Northwestern) 7-5, 6-2. Hiltzik reached the quarterfinals of the regional for the second straight season.  

Two of the four Illini competing in the singles main draw produced multiple wins, as Julian Childers joined Hiltzik in reaching the round of 16. Childers produced a signature win over No. 34 Sam Stropshire of Northwestern in the round of 32 with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory. Childers fell to Notre Dame's Eddy Covalschi 6-3, 6-4 in the round of 16.

Hiltzik, who entered as the No. 4 seed, produced three-set victories over Lubo Cuba (Michigan) in the first round and Joe VanMeter (CSU) in the second round. The Wilmette, Illinois native defeated Marin Joyce (OSU) 6-3, 7-5(5) in the round of 16.

Sophomore Toshiki Matsuya garnered a first round victory over Michael Lorenzini 6-1, 1-6, 6-1. Matsuya also teamed up with Childers in the doubles draw. The duo made the farthest run for the Illini by reaching the round of 16, where they fell to No. 55 Emhardt/Schorsch (Valpo) 8-4.
