CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Fighting Illini sophomore gymnast Chandler Eggleston suffered a ruptured patella tendon and will redshirt the 2015 season. Expected recovery time is estimated at six months. The Jamestown, N.C., native will return during the 2015-16 season.
During his debut season for the Orange and Blue, Eggleston accumulated an impressive list of accolades. His accomplishments include a pair of runner-up finishes at the NCAA Championships on vault and floor earning him All-American honors. Eggleston took home the floor title at the Big Ten Championships and was selected to the All-Big Ten first team.
"A healthy Chandler Eggleston is an irreplaceable athlete," shared head coach Justin Spring. "We will miss him greatly out on the competition floor, but we have a very determined team this year and I believe they will step up to the challenge and continue to be one of the strongest teams in the NCAA this year."
