Chip Shots | Dana's Bio

Hello Illini Fans,

I am very excited to be writing my first ever Chip Shots for the Illinois team!

This past weekend the team had the opportunity to make a trip to Indiana to play at Crooked Stick Golf Club. The course, which has hosted multiple professional and amateur tournaments, was in excellent condition from tee to green. We were faced with shots that challenged every aspect of our game, and it will better prepare us for play on even the toughest courses. We were joined by three women who have played at the club for many years, and let's just say "if we ever need backup players we know who to call." ☺

As of now we are just over one month into our school year, and I can say that the time has flown by. It seems like just yesterday I, along with Grace, Jan, and Pailin, were, as typical freshman do, walking around campus holding up our map trying to figure out which direction we were headed, only to find out we were headed in the opposite direction. I am happy to report after a few weeks of classes we have successfully learned our way around campus (well, for the most part)! We are so blessed to have an experienced group of upperclassmen that have helped us adjust to life as a student-athlete at Illinois. They have helped us manage our time so we can stay on top of our academics as well as fit time in for other fun stuff too! It is important to realize that every day is a new experience, and there is still so much to learn.

The team has gotten off to a great start this season, and I cannot wait to see what else we will accomplish. I think I can speak for the entire team when I say we are so thrilled to be part of a team that has limitless potential. Our commitment this year is to "build a tradition, leave a legacy" and together we are doing that. We are so happy to be representing the Fighting Illini!
