Day 2 Pairings
Boerne, Texas - At the conclusion of the first round of the Jim West Challenge the Illinois women's golf team is tied for seventh place in the 12-team field. Head coach Renee Slone's team carded a +22 round at 310 strokes.
The Illini are tied for seventh place with Kent State. Leading the field is Texas A&M at 297 (+9). Missouri posted a 301 (+13) for second place while Houston, East Carolina and Texas Tech are tied for third at 303 (+15). Oklahoma claimed the remaining spot above the Orange and Blue with a 305 (+17) round. Ole Miss (314), Wisconsin (316), Iowa (320) and Texas State (321) rounded out the field.
Illinois is led by freshman Dana Gattone who is tied for sixth individually after carding a +2 round of 74. Samantha Postillion is currently tied for 30th individually with a 78 (+6). Stephanie Miller and Grace Park are tied at 36 after shooting a 79 (+7) on the first day of competition. Chayanid Prapassarangkul rounds out the Illinois team with an 81 (+9). Individually Pimploy Thirati is tied at 30th after a 78 (+6) performance.
Statistically the Illini have shot par on 44 holes good for eighth place across the board. At nine birdies Slone's crew ranks fifth behind leader Missouri. Illinois posted a pair of eagles as Park and Postillion each took three strokes on the five-par 10th hole.
Play will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3rd with a shotgun start at the 6,234-yard Tapatio Course.
