Each week the Illini in the NFL update provides coverage on how former Fighting Illini football players fared during the previous week. In week eleven, Vontae Davis (Colts), Jon Asamoah (Falcons), Steve Weatherford (Giants) and Whitney Mercilus all had big days.

Vontae Davis, CB, Indianapolis Colts (@VontaeDavis) - Davis recorded three tackles, one of which was a solo tackle, but the Colts lost to the surging Patriots 42-20 on Sunday Night Football.

Jon Asamoah, OL, Atlanta Falcons - Helped protect Matt Ryan, who threw for 268 yards and a touchdown while only being sacked twice, as the Falcons beat the Panthers 19-17.

Steve Weatherford, P, New York Giants (@Weatherford5) - Weatherford only punted three times against the 49ers, but averaged forty-three yards per punt and had one punt travel fifty-two yards. The Giants lost to the 49ers 16-10.

Whitney Mercilus, DE, Houston Texans (@Merci380) - Mercilus tallied two tackles during the Texans' 23-7 win against the Browns.

Hugh Thornton, OL, Indianapolis Colts (@HughThornton72) - Protected Andrew Luck, as the offensive line allowed only one sack, who passed for 303 yards and two touchdowns, but the Colts lost to the Patriots 42-20.

Corey Liuget, DE, San Diego Chargers (@CoreyLiuget) - Liuget recorded one tackle against the Raiders as the Chargers defeated Oakland 13-6.

Akeem Spence, DT, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (@AkeemSpence) - Spence had one solo tackle to help the Buccaneers beat the Redskins for their second win of the season.

A.J. Jenkins, WR, Kansas City Chiefs (@AJJenkins15) - Jenkins was not targeted in the Chief's 24-20 win over the defending champion Seattle Seahawks.

Brandon Lloyd, WR, San Francisco 49ers (@MrBLloyd) - Lloyd was not targeted by Kaepernick in the 49ers 16-10 win over the Giants.

Tavon Wilson, FS, New England Patriots (@TavonWilson27) - Participated in the Patriots' 42-20 win against the Colts on Sunday Night Football, but did not record any stats.

Michael Hoomanawanui, TE, New England Patriots (@Hoomanawanui47) - Hoomanawanui started at tight end and was targeted once without a catch. He serves as the primary blocking tight end for the Patriots with Rob Gronkowski as the pass-catching tight end. The Patriots beat the Colts 42-20 on Sunday Night Football.

Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints (@Pierre_Thomas) - Thomas did not participate in the Saints' 28-10 victory over the Panthers on Thursday due to a shoulder/rib injury.

Jeff Cumberland, TE, New York Jets (@Cumberland85) - The Jets were on a bye in week 11 and will face the Bills in Buffalo in week 12.

Josh Brent, DT, Dallas Cowboys - Brent has been activated to the Cowboys' 53-man roster after his 10-game suspension ended last week.
