Golliday Earns Academic All-America Honors

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- University of Illinois senior Marissa Golliday earned third-team Capital One Academic All-America honors for Division I. Golliday boasts a 3.49 grade point average in Advertising and graduated as one of the best multi-event competitors in Illinois history.

Golliday had a very successful senior season. Indoors, she earned first All-America honors after setting the school record in the pentathlon at the NCAA Championships with a score of 4,167 points placing seventh. She was also a big contributor to helping the Illini win the Big Ten title, running in the first place 4x400m relay that set a new Big Ten and school record time of 3:33.30 and finishing runner-up in the pentathlon.

Outdoors, Golliday earned first team All-America honor after running the first leg of the 4x400m relay squad which finished fifth at the NCAA Championships. The relay set a school record time of 3:29.28. She also earned second team All-America honors in the high jump, finishing with a lifetime best mark of 5-10 3/4 (1.80m) which is fifth all-time in the Orange and Blue record books.

Golliday was a two-time Big Ten All-Academic honoree during her career as an Illini.Academic All-Big Ten honors are bestowed upon student-athletes who have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, earned an athletic letter and are in at least their second year at their institution.
