Day One Results | Live Scoring

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Illinois women's team completed 36 holes of the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational on Saturday, posting a team total of 649 (+73) to finish day one in 10th place. The Illini carded a 330 (+42) in the first round and a 319 (+31) in the second. Ohio State (605) leads the 11-team field followed by Northwestern (613) and Michigan State (613) tied for second place.

"The play today was certainly not up to our standards," head coach Renee Slone said. "I feel like we had prepared well in the last few weeks, practicing specific things to get ready for this golf course and working on some areas that are important to play well on any golf course. The practice round helped prepared us even more, but we went out there today and just simply didn't get it done."

Senior Hailey Koschmann and sophomore Ember Schuldt lead the Illini individually, finishing day one in a tie for 38th place after posting a 161 (+17). Koschmann shot an 83 (+11) in the first round and a second round 78 (+6), while Schuldt carded an 81 (+9) in the first round and an 80 (+8) in the second round. Senior Katelin Dilger (162) finished one stroke behind her teammates in a tie for 42nd place after posting an 82 (+10) in the first round and a second round 80 (+8).

Seniors Samantha Sloan (166) and Nora Lucas (166) are tied for 51st place. Sloan shot an 84 (+12) in the first and an 82 (+10) in the second, while Lucas carded a first round 85 (+13) and a second round 81 (+9). Freshman Michelle Mayer turned in a 92 (+20) in the first round and an 84 (+12) in the second.

"As far as tomorrow goes, they just need to go out and focus on hitting some good, solid shots and playing smart," Slone said. "Let everything else take care of itself, and just focus on the basics of golf and finding a way to get the ball in the hole."

The third and final round of the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational begins on Sunday with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. CT. Live scoring can be found on golfstat.com while a recap of the final round can be found on fightingillini.com.
