Day 1 Results

NAMPA, Idaho. - Senior Andrew Riley advanced in both events he competed in Friday at the NCAA Indoor Championships, and broke his own school record, clocking a time of 6.58 in the 60m. Riley also clocked the fastest prelim time in the 60m hurdles with a mark of 7.55, just off the school record. The Illini's hurdles mark also eclipsed the Jacksons Indoor Track facility record and advanced to Saturday's event final.

"Andrew had a great day advancing in both the 60m hurdles and 60m dash with another school record," head coach Mike Turk said. "He looked especially good in the hurdles."

Riley surpassed his previous best mark of 6.62, which he ran two weeks ago during the finals of the Big Ten Indoor Championships. In the 60m, Riley took second in his heat and took the third quickest time of the day. Florida's Jeff Demps ran the fastest time (6.52) and Florida State's Kemar Hyman finished second with a time of 6.57. The finals of the 60m hurdles is set for 7:35 p.m. CT while the finals of the 60m are slated for tomorrow at 8:15 p.m. CT.

"Today's goal was to qualify for the finals," Turk said. "The big day is tomorrow. This is a great field of competitors. Andrew is well prepared, focused and ready for the challenge."

ESPN3 will stream the meet live tomorrow from 7-10 p.m. CT. A tape delay of the championship will air Sunday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
