Orange and Blue Begin Action at Meyo Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - A handful of Illini were in action on Friday night to get things started at the Meyo Invitational, the squad's first road meet of the season. Senior Tamika Robinson advanced to the finals of a pair of events, as she sprinted to the fastest 60m dash time (7.50) and the second-fastest 60m hurdles time (8.28) during prelims at the Loftus Center.

A pair of Illini will join Robinson in the 60m dash final after Cheria Morgan (7.62) and sophomore Kayla Smith (7.71) qualified after placing sixth and 12th, respectively. The finals of the 60m dash and 60m hurdles are scheduled to be run after the Meyo Mile during the afternoon session on Saturday.

In the 5,000m, senior Elizabeth Boyle notched the top Orange and Blue showing, running a time of 17:00.46 to finish eighth. The distance medley relay of freshman Katie Porada (1200m), sophomore Marissa Golliday (400m), freshman Samantha Murphy (800m) and sophomore Stephanie Morgan (1600m) turned in a time of 11:30.25 and finished fifth out of 13 squads.

Sophomore Kawanna Brooks came in 13th in the long jump with a bound of 18-8 ¾ (5.71m), while senior Kelly Washington cleared a height of 5-4 ¼ (1.63m) to place 17th in the high jump.
