Day 1 Results 
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - The Illinois men's tennis team opened its fall season earlier today at the fourth annual Olympia Fields Country Club (OFCC) Fighting Illini Invitational. The Illini went 6-0 in singles and 5-1 in doubles play, competing against players from Alabama, Notre Dame and Wake Forest.
The Illini got off to a solid start in doubles, as the 33rd-ranked tandem of senior Connor Roth and sophomore Stephen Hoh collected wins over Wake Forest's Zach Leslie and Amogh Prabhakar, 8-5, and Jonathan Wolff and David Hopkins, 8-2. Senior Abe Souza also tallied a pair of victories, as he and senior Johnny Hamui topped Wolff and Hopkins, 8-6, while Souza and sophomore Bruno Abdelnour knocked off Leslie and Prabhakar, 8-4. Junior Dennis Nevolo and redshirt freshman Brian Alden also picked up a win, defeating Notre Dame's Sam Keeton and Blas Moros, 8-1.
In singles action, all six Illini competing collected wins. The three-day event continues Saturday with singles play beginning at 9 a.m. Admission is free.
Also competing for the Illini this weekend is sophomore KU Singh, who advanced to the semifinal round of the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center USTA Pro Classic in Claremont, Calif. Singh claimed a pair of three-set matches en route to the quarterfinals, where he won the first set against James Duckworth, 6-4, before Duckworth retired to give Singh the victory.
