400m Hurdles Semifinal Results | USA Championships Homepage
DES MOINES, Iowa - Following the semifinal of the 400m hurdles at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships, Illinois junior Cody Wisslead unfortunately found himself in familiar territory. Wisslead, who missed the final at the NCAA Championships by two spots two weeks ago, came up just short again. The Sciota, Ill., native timed 50.56 and placed ninth overall, just one spot shy of the eighth and final qualifying slot.
Wisslead wrapped up his season on Friday at Drake Stadium with the second-fastest time in his career, which came at his first-ever appearance at the country's national meet. In the race aired live on ESPN, the Illini hurdler made a late push down the stretch, but could not surpass South Florida's David Aristil, who filled the last qualifying spot. Bershawn Jackson turned in the fastest time of the day, easily clocking a mark of 48.36.
