The Illinois (615) women's golf team is leading the first annual Memphis Women's Invitational heading into the final round at the par-71, 6,176-yard Ridgeway Country Club. Illinois was one of only seven teams to complete the second round as it was called due to darkness. Most golfers were through at least 15 holes in the second round. Illinois started the tournament off slow with a 314 in the first round of play, but rebounded in the second round, cutting 13 strokes off their score to shoot 301. The Illini are six strokes ahead of second-place teams Memphis (621) and Missouri State (621), both of whom finished their second rounds.
Freshman Ember Schuldt (153) leads the Illini after rounds of 79-74 and is tied for tenth. Juniors Samantha Sloan (154) and Hailey Koschmann (154) are only a shot behind Schuldt in 12th, after Sloan had rounds of 78-76, while Koschmann had a first round 81, but responded in the her second round, shooting a two-over par 73. Junior Katelin Dilger (157), making her first appearance for the Illini in the 2010-11 season, had rounds of 79-78 and is tied for 27th. Rounding out the Illini is junior Nora Lucas (161) with rounds of 78-83 and is currently tied for 39th.
