Football players Arrelious Benn and Dere Hicks stopped by the Don Moyers Boys & Girls Club to surprise local youth who gave up their day off from school to partner with volunteers from Coca Cola to spruce up the club with some fresh paint and landscaping. These kids received Hometown Heroes tickets also for helping out and will be attending Saturday's game vs. Penn State.
Hometown Heroes is a community outreach program that provides our student-athletes with opportunities to interact with youth from Champaign County while spreading an anti-drug, anti-gang and pro-Illini message. This program enables our student-athletes to develop their speaking skills while impacting the lives of others as they serve as role models for the youth of our community.
