Feb. 8, 2008
The University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Atheltics today announced the addition of the final game for the 2008 football schedule. The Illini will play Western Michigan Nov. 8 at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich., home of the Detroit Lions. The game is the first in a two-game contract, in which WMU returns to Memorial Stadium in 2011. With the 12th game of the season now set, the 2008 schedule is finalized.
The Illini will host a six-game home schedule at Memorial Stadium, with games against Eastern Illinois and Louisiana-Lafayette in the non-conference season. During Big Ten play, Illinois will welcome Minnesota for Homecoming, Indiana on Foundation Day, Iowa for Dad's Day and the 2008 national runner-up Ohio State. Once again, the team will open the season against the highly touted Missouri Tigers in the Edward Jones Dome for the State Farm Arch Rivalry. Illinois will take to the road against Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin and Northwestern.
