Lady Northern Final Results
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Fighting Illini women's golf team moved up a spot on the final day of the Lady Northern and finished ahead of two Big Ten teams. Illinois (958) placed 11th after carding a final round 320 at the par-72 6,297-yard Kampen Course.
"It's a very challenging golf course, but the good thing is that it prepares us for Big Tens," head coach Renee Slone said. "We now know what to expect and what needs to be done at this course, so we will be able to apply what we learned when we come back here in April."
Freshman Samantha Sloan (236) moved up 18 spots on Sunday to finish tied for 29th after a final round 77. Freshman Hailey Koschmann (239) notched a second straight 79 and finished tied for 39th. Koschmann placed outside the top-20 for the first time all season. Sophomore Raquel Hopton (242) shot a final round 82 and remained tied for 50th. Senior Nancy Featherstone (246) tallied an 82 on Sunday, and freshman Nora Lucas (246) turned in a final round 86 as they both tied for 62nd overall. Freshman Katelin Dilger (259) competed as an individual and placed 80th.
Host Purdue (895) took home the team title, finishing 17 strokes ahead of the 14-team field. Michigan State (912) edged Notre Dame (913) by a single stroke for second place, while Indiana (924) and Michigan (937) rounded out the top five.
Maria Hernandez of Purdue earned medalist honors with a 1-over 217, four strokes ahead of Michigan State's Laura Kueny (221) and teammate Maude-Aimee LeBlanc (221).
Up Next: Illinois wraps up the fall season in two weeks as they head to Austin, Texas for the Challenge at Wolfdancer on Nov. 2-3.
