CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar Teams were announced this week and University of Illinois senior Meghan Naik (Normal, Ill.) was among those recognized with the prestigious honor.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% (Division I) or 66% (Division II & III) of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
This is the second time Naik has been named an NGCA All-American Scholar and the 10th consecutive year Illinois has had at least one individual honored.
Naik, who earned a bachelor's degree in speech communications in May of 2007, had the fourth lowest stroke average for the Orange and Blue this season (79.88). She was the top Illinois finisher in two tournaments, placing 11th at both the Lady Irish Invitational and Big Ten Championships. Her low round this season was a 73 at the Lady Irish.
