Ghent, Belgium - Illinois' Justin Spring completed the World Cup competition on May 13-14 at the Flanders Sports Arena in Ghent, Belgium, finishing in the top-8 on both events he competed on. The Burke, Va., native qualified for the event finals on parallel bars and high bar where he finished in sixth and eighth place, respectively. The competition featured athletes from 30 countries, including China, Japan, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine.

On Saturday, Spring finished with a 14.350 on parallel bars and a 14.350 on high bar to advance to the finals on both events. He then recorded a 14.800 on parallel bars to take sixth place and posted a 10.425 to finish eighth on high bar on Sunday.

Spring will try to retain his roster spot on the U.S. World Championship team and defend his high bar title when try-outs get underway August 16-19 at the Visa U.S. National Championships in St. Paul, Minn.
