CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -
Sophomore Marc Spicijaric ended his run at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational with a loss to Bojan Szumanski of Texas Tech 6-3, 7-5 in Midland, Texas Sunday afternoon. Despite the loss, head coach Brad Dancer knows the experience Spicijaric learned from making his first final of his career will only help him later on this season.
"This was a great tournament run for Marc," Dancer said. "Marc played well today, but lost to a great player from Texas Tech. Overall, Marc learned some things that he needs to work on to better maximize his tennis game. What he has learned this weekend will only help him get better as the season progresses."
With the loss, Spicijaric moves to 11-6 on the season in singles.
Spicijaric and the Illini will be back in action this coming weekend as they travel to the ITA Midwest Regional Championships in Minneapolis, Minn., Oct. 19-24.
