Orange And Blue To Have Three Runners At NCAA Championships

Illinois' men's track team had three members advance to the NCAA Championships Saturday at NCAA Mideast Regional meet in Bloomington, Ind.. Zach Glavash, Abe Jones and Adrian Walker will represent the Orange and Blue at the NCAA meet in two weeks in Sacramento, Calif. Jones and Walker were All-Americans last year while Glavash was an indoor All-American.

"I was very pleased with this weekend's results," head coach Wayne Angel said. "The guys ran their hearts out and reaped the benefits of all the hard word they've put in all year. We battled well and came through with one heck of a meet. We're looking forward to Sacramento and bringing home some All-Americans."

Jones took third in the 400m hurdles in a personal best time of 49.82, breaking Walker's mark of 50.01 which was set last season and Walker placed fifth in the event in a season-best time of 50.57. The duo earned All-America honors last year in the event.

In the 800m, Glavash was fifth in 1:49.48 to reach his first outdoor NCAA Championships. He was an indoor All-American in the event earlier this season.

The 4x400m relay team of Glavash, Jones, Walker and Nathan Vadeboncoeur fell just short of advancing, taking fourth in a season best time of 3:05.84. The top three relay teams and top five individual finishers in each event adavanced to the NCAA Championships.

The Illini will next compete at the NCAA Championships held in Sacramento, Calif., June 8-11.
