Notre Dame, Ind. - Illinois shot a final-round score of 318 today to remain in the same position in the team standings and finish sixth at the fifth annual Notre Dame Invitational, a 54-hole tournament held at the par 72, 6,003-yard Warren Golf Course. Iowa State won the 17-team event with a score of 902, defeating Washington State (907) by five strokes. Host Notre Dame finished third at 914. Junior Megan Godfrey was the lone UI golfer to shoot in the 70s all three rounds. She shot a 76 today to go along with rounds of 75 and 78 on Saturday. Godfrey was Illinois' top finisher, placing 11th with a three-round total of 229, missing the Top 10 by just one stroke. The Illini had three true freshmen playing in their first collegiate tournament this weekend. Kristine Cook performed the best, tying for 24th place with a 235. Seul Ki Park tied for 50th (243) while Stephanie Mory finished 74th (252). Senior Lyndsey Milligan was the Illini's third finisher behind Godfrey and Cook. She tied for 48th place with a 242, one stroke ahead of Park. Iowa State's Louise Kenney earned medalist honors with an even-par score of 216, finishing five shots ahead of runners-up Kim Welch (Washington State) and Karen Lotta (Notre Dame). Illinois is back in action next weekend, competing at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate Sept. 11-12 in Ann Arbor, Mich. Notre Dame Invitational Final Team Standings
