West Lafayette, Ind. - Illinois is in 11th place with a score of 650 after two rounds of play today at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational, hosted by Purdue at the par 72, 6,225-yard Kampen Course. The Illini shot team scores of 625 in both rounds one and two today. Indiana leads the 12-team tournament with a score of 596, owning a six-stroke lead over Michigan State (602).
Leading the way for the Illini is senior Marla Cox, who is tied for 22nd place out of 70 players in the tournament. Cox shot a 79 in round one and a 77 in round two, good for a two-round total of 12-over par 156.
A trio of Illini are tied for 58th place as juniors Lyndsey Milligan and Megan O'Neal and freshman Meghan Naik all own scores of 170. Sophomore Megan Godfrey is one stroke behind those three, in 64th with a 171.
Senior Michelle Carroll shot the lowest score of the day by an Illinois golfer, a 3-over par 75 in round one. However, Carroll, who is still recovering from off season wrist surgery, had to withdraw from the second round.
Indiana's Danah Ford sits atop the leader board at 5-under par through two rounds (139), while Kent State's Gabby Wedding is in second place, nine strokes behind Ford at 4-over par (148).
The third and final round of the 54-hole Lady Boilermaker Invitational will be held Sunday.
