Columbus, Ohio - Illinois finished in 11th place at the annual Lady Northern Intercollegiate. The Illini shot rounds of 313 and 318 on Sunday to finish the tournament with a 54-hole score of 951. Texas won the Lady Northern with a score of 893, beating Ohio State by two strokes (895). Michigan State finished third at 897, four shots behind the Longhorns. The Lady Northern was hosted by Ohio State at the par 72, 6,201-yard Ohio State University Scarlet Golf Course, which is also the site of the 2004 Big Ten Championships. The competitive 15-team field included all eleven Big Ten teams.

Senior Marla Cox carded the low round of the tournament for the Illini during today's second round with a 3-over par 75. That helped her become Illinois' top finisher at the Lady Northern, as she tied for 28th place in the 90-player field with a three-round total score of 18-over 234. Cox finished three strokes better than fellow senior Michelle Carroll, who tied for 35th place with a score of 237 (+21).

There was a three-way tie for first place after 54 holes between Texas' Janice Olivencia, Oklahoma's Lisa Meldrum and Ohio State's Allison Hanna, with all three shooting 2-over par scores of 218. But Olivencia captured medalist honors after defeating the other two golfers in a playoff.
