Illinois Defeats Incarnate Word in Dual Meet

San Antonio, Texas - The University of Illinois squared off against the University of Incarnate Word in a dual meet at the par-72, 5,831-yard Silver Horne Golf Club of Texas. Illinois won the meet with a score of 321.

Eight Illinois golfers competed in the meet, five for the Illini and three as individuals. Illinois' scoring foursome consisted of Laurin Kanda, Carmel Sielicki, Michelle Carroll and Stephanie Cheney. Kanda placed first with a round of four-over 76, while Sielicki was second with an 80. Carroll took third with an 82 and Cheney rounded out the scoring with an 83.

Illinois returns to the state of Texas next week, where it will compete in the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout 2002 on March 28-29.
