Final Stats
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois women's golf team shot a final-round 308 to finish sixth at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate, Sunday at the Stone Creek Golf Course in Urbana, Ill.
The 54-hole event had 14 teams competing, including eight Big Ten opponents and four other teams from the state of Illinois.
Illinois golfer Marla Cox shot a final-round, even-par 72 to pace the Illini. Cox, a native of Lima, Ohio, used the personal-best round to jump 19 spots in the final standings into 16th place.
Also earning a top-20 finish for Illinois was junior Laurin Kanda. Kanda capped a solid meet with a final-round 79 to earn her first top-20 finish of the season.
The University of Michigan shot a final-round 292 to claim the team title by 14 shots over Big Ten rival Northwestern. Kent State golfer Martina Gillen used a final-round 3-under-par 69 to claim medalist honors. Gillen outlasted Michigan golfer Kim Benedict, who shot a 2-under-par 70, to get the win.
