University of Illinois defensive end Terrell Washington was named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week following his two crucial blocked field goals in the Illini's 17-12 win over Northern Illinois.
Washington also had a tackle for loss and three other tackles in the team's home opener. In two games, Washington has seven total tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble and on e pass deflection. He is the second Illini player to earn conference player of the week honors this year, along with wide receiver Brandon Lloyd one week ago.
Other players honored by the Big Ten this week were: Steve Bellisari (Ohio State) and Kyle McCann (Iowa) on offense and Larry Foote (Michigan) on defense.
