CHICAGO, Ill. --- In the last regular season meet of the 2001 season, the Illinois women's gymnastics team finished third in the Illinois State Meet with a team total of 193.475. Illinois-Chicago won the event with a score of 195.700 followed by Illinois State with 195.175. The Illini defeated Northern Illinois. The Huskies scored a 192.000. The Illini finish the regular season with a 3-11 record, 0-4 in the Big Ten.

Sophomore All-Arounder Jana Gallagher was Illinois' only individual event winner. She tied for first on the balance beam with a score of 9.875. Senior Carissa Ericson scored a 9.875 to take second on the floor exercise. She also scored a 9.800 to tie for second on the vault. Illinois teammates Phaedra Dixon and Michelle Buranich tied with each other for second on the bars. Both athletes recorded scores of 9.850 on the apparatus.

The Illini travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. for the Big Ten Championships on Saturday, March 24. Opening ceremonies begin at 5 p.m. central.
