South Pines, N.C. - The University of Illinois women's golf team finished in eighth place at the 14-team Pine Needles Invitational, the final tournament of the fall season. The Invitational was played at the par-71, 5,986-yard Pine Needles Golf Course in South Pines, N.C. Illinois shot a final round score of 323 today, to finish the 36-hole tournament with a score of 640, 72-over par. Michigan State won the tournament title with a score of 603, 37 strokes ahead of the Illini.

Individually, junior Laurin Kanda led the Illini with a tie for 20th place individually. Kanda shot a 79 today, after carding a 78 on day one to finish the invitational with a score of 157, 15-over par. Michigan State's Allison Fouch earned medalist honors out of 78 golfers, finishing the tournament at three-over par (145).

Finishing in a tie for 25th place was UI sophomore Marla Cox with 158 strokes, while fellow Illini sophomore Michelle Carroll place in a tie for 40th place with a score of 162. Rounding out Illinois' scoring was junior Renata Young, who finished tied for 43rd at 164.

This concludes the fall season for the Illini women's golf team.
