Illinois Tied For Tenth at Shootout at The Legends

Franklin, Ind. - The Illinois women's golf team is currently tied for tenth place after two rounds of play at the Shootout at The Legends tournament in Franklin, Ind. The 19-team tournament consists of 96 golfers playing the par-72, 6,076-yard course at The Legends.

Illinois shot a 299 in the morning round and followed with an afternoon round of 308 for a 36-hole score of 607, +31 over par. The Illini are tied with Iowa for tenth place. Wisconsin leads the tournament with a score of 578, six strokes ahead of second place Michigan (584), and seven better than third place Kent State (585). The Illini are 29 strokes behind the tournament-leading Badgers.

Junior Renata Young is tied for 21st individually, leading the Illini with back-to-back rounds of 75, for a +6 score of 150. Juniors Laurin Kanda and Stephanie Cheney are two shots behind Young, tied for 38th place individually with each shooting 152. Kanda fired rounds of 74-78, while Cheney carded 75-77.

Rounding out the scoring four for the Illini was sophomore Michelle Carroll, who shot 75-78 for a total score of 153 and tied for 46th place overall.

The 54-hole tournament concludes tomorrow with the final round beginning at 7:30 a.m.
