Rogers, Ark. - The University of Illinois women's golf team fired a 315 today, in the third and final round of competition, to finish in third place at the Lady Razorback Invitational. The tournament, hosted by the University of Arkansas on the par-72, 5,910 yard Pinnacle Country Club Course, consisted of 15 teams from throughout the Central Region and beyond.
Illinois shot a 54-hole score of 941 to take third place. Minnesota won the tournament with a 927, followed in second place by Texas-El Paso who shot 932. Minnesota's Karyn Stordahl was the medalist, shooting a 218.
The Illini had three golfers finish in the top ten individually in the tournament, which consisted of 78 golfers. Junior Laurin Kanda placed fourth overall, leading the Illini with a three-day score of 231 (77-79-75), 15-over par for the tournament.
Junior Renata Young placed ninth on the leaderboard, coming through with a 54-hole score of 233 (79-75-79), while sophomore Marla Cox finished in a tie for tenth place, carding a 235 (81-76-78).
The next tournament for the Illini is the Shootout at The Legends, Oct. 8-9 in Franklin, Ind.
