LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- University of Illinois men's gymnast Linh Hoang recorded a mark of 49.850 for the 24th-best all-around score in yesterday's combined preliminary competion at the 2000 U.S. Winter Cup in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Hoang (Houston, Texas) will continue in the final session at 10 p.m. CT tonight, competing for one of the top 14 spots on the U.S. National Team. Among those qualified for tonight's meet are former NCAA national champion and Minnesota Golden Gopher John Roethlisberger and current Big Ten foes Justin Toman of Michigan, Jamie Natalie and Doug Stibel of Ohio State and Adam Benas from Penn State.
