Illini Golf Takes 13th Place At Lady Northern

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Illini once again improved their score but fell in the standings. Illinois dropped four strokes from its second round total, but the Illini ended the tournament a tie for 13th place. Both Illinois and Notre Dame finished the 16-team tournament with a total of 961.

Sophomore Laurin Kanda led the Illini throughout the tournament. She is tied for 41st place after shooting a 79 in the final round for a total of 238. Sophomore Renata Young shot a 78 today bringing her tournament total to 240. She tied for 51st. Newcomer Marla Cox shot her best round of the tournament today with a 78. She tied for 74th with a 246. Sophomore Stephanie Cheney finished with a total of 247 to tie for 76th. Freshman Michelle Carroll tied for 80th with a tournament total of 249. Sophomore transfer student Carmel Sielicki is tied for 86th with a 253.

The Illini take a break before returning to action October 16-17 in Little Rock, Ark.
