University of Illinois football players Ivery Lewis and Brian Scott will receive scholarships for the 1999 season, Head Coach Ron Turner announced this morning.
Both senior walk-ons, Scott and Lewis will be on scholarships in this, their final season. Scott, an offensive lineman, was the first Urbana player on the Illini roster since linebacker Sam Ellsworth (1983-87). He has been a four-year member of the squad and has provided depth on the line. He is listed as the backup center as 1999 pre-season camp begins.

Lewis, from Danville, is also a four-year member of the UI squad. The fullback has played the last two seasons on special teams and made great strides in the 1999 spring game. He had three receptions for 54 yards and carried the ball six times.
"Brian and Ivery are two former walk-ons that have showed tremendous commitment and loyalty to the Illinois program. They are both very deserving of scholarships," Turner said. "We believe in rewarding athletes for their loyalty and commitment whenever possible. We are happy that we are able to do this for their senior season."
