A native of Urbana, Ella Masar ranks sixth on the Illini career list with 27 goals and fifth in all-time points with 74 after the 27 goals and 20 assists as one of the top offensive players in Illinois history. She would earn National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Second-Team All-America honors in 2006 and be named First-Team All-American in 2007. Masar was First-Team All-Region and Lowe’s First-Team All-Big Ten in 2006 and 2007. She was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year in 2006. Masar was taken in the 2008 Draft as the ninth overall pick and played professionally in the U.S. and internationally until 2019. She represented the U.S. in international competition for U-21, U-23 and National teams.
