Libby Knight joined the University of Illinois Athletics staff in October 2015. She works primarily with the Fighting Illini volleyball, women's golf, women's tennis and track and field teams and has previously worked as the contact for the Fighting Illini softball and women's basketball programs. 

During her time with the Orange and Blue, Knight has led the communications efforts for four NCAA Tournament teams with volleyball, including three Sweet 16 teams and one Final Four team, as well as three NCAA Regional teams with softball. She hosted the first, second, and regional rounds at Huff Hall during the 2018 NCAA Volleyball Championship, serving as both media coordinator and sports information director during the first four tournament rounds.

Along with her sport assignments, she also serves as the athletics communications student coordinator and oversees a staff of students and recruitment of potential student employees.

Before to coming to Illinois, Knight spent three and a half years as an assistant director of athletics communications at Kennesaw State University. In her role at KSU, Knight served as the primary contact for women’s soccer, women’s basketball, women’s golf and softball, as well as the KSU spirit squad, while assisting with other sports as needed.

Knight led the athletics communications social media efforts during her time in Kennesaw and was a part of one NCAA Regional appearance with women’s golf and saw the women’s basketball team post its winningest season in the school’s NCAA Division I history.

Prior to her time at KSU, Knight spent a year as the media relations staff assistant at Morehead State University in Morehead, Ky., serving as the main contact for the soccer, softball, cheerleading and rifle teams, while also assisting as the secondary contact for football, men’s and women’s basketball and tennis.

Knight graduated magna cum laude from Indiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in sport management in 2009. She was a four-year letter winner on the Indiana State University soccer team from 2005-09, playing in 53 games and earning the team’s Most Improved Player award following her junior season.

A native of Champaign, she earned a master’s degree in sport management from the University of Illinois in 2011.
